The Lemosho Route is widely regarded as one of the finest ways to climb Kilimanjaro. Beginning on the remote western side of the mountain, it crosses the sweeping Shira Plateau and joins the scenic southern circuit - offering spectacular views and outstanding acclimatisation throughout.
Highlights include the iconic Barranco Wall scramble and the unforgettable midnight summit push to Uhuru Peak. At roughly 65–70 km over 8 days, it allows a gradual, safer altitude gain - giving climbers the best possible chance of reaching the top.

Day 1
Londorossi Gate → Mti Mkubwa Camp — Arrive at the trailhead and trek through lush tropical rainforest to your first camp, soaking in the sights and sounds of the forest canopy above.

Day 2
Mti Mkubwa Camp → Shira 1 Camp — Trek up into the moorland zone as the forest thins and spectacular views of the mountain begin to open around you.

Shira 1 Camp → Shira 2 Camp — Cross the magnificent Shira Plateau with sweeping panoramic views of the mountain and the vast landscape below.

Very scenic and highly popular, with good acclimatisation built into the schedule. A fantastic choice for those with slightly less time.

The 7-day Lemosho Route is a shorter version of the 8-day itinerary, following the same scenic path but with one less acclimatisation day.
Rongai Route
7 Days
Approaches from the quieter northern side of the mountain. Tends to be drier and less crowded - a wonderful option for those seeking solitude.
Northern Circuit
9 Days
The longest route on Kilimanjaro, with the highest reported summit success rate and some of the most remote and dramatic scenery on the mountain.
